Steps and sections Praxis Desk
A form consists of one or more steps. Here you learn how to add steps, move content between them, and make sections repeatable. For how to use the editor, see Create and manage forms.
Prerequisites
Required license
This feature requires the Forms add-on for Praxis and Desk.
Add and delete a step
A form consists of one or more steps. Each step has its own tab above the form area.
- Click Schritt (Step) in the tab bar. The new step is named Schritt 2, the next one Schritt 3, and so on.
- Rename the active step directly in its tab. Without a custom name, a step is called Schritt N. The number follows the step's position in the form.
- Drag a tab to another position in the bar to change the order.
- In the active tab, click the icon with the tooltip Schritt löschen (Delete step) and confirm the prompt. Offisy deletes the step together with all its content. The icon only appears once the form has two steps.
In the Aufbau (Structure) tree, you see all steps with their sections and fields.
Set the page margin of a step
Each step can have its own left and right page margin. By default, a step uses the values of the form.
- Click the tab of the step. The Seitenabstand (page margin) card appears on the right.
- Switch the toggle from Geerbt (inherited) to Eigene (custom).
- Enter the margin for this step in Links (left) and Rechts (right).
With Geerbt, the card shows the values of the form. Top and bottom apply to the whole form. You set them in the Darstellung (appearance) tab of the form settings, see Change form settings.
Move sections and fields to another step
If your form has at least two steps, you can move sections and fields between them. Conditions, signature groups, and answers are preserved.
By dragging onto the tab
- Drag a section by its Abschnitt verschieben (Move section) handle or a field by its Element verschieben (Move element) handle over the tab of another step.
- Hold it there briefly. The step opens.
- Drop the section or field at the position you want.
If you drop directly on the tab, a section lands at the end of the step. A field lands at the end of the step's last section.
Using the menu
- Select the section or field.
- In the toolbar, click the button with the arrow icon. Its tooltip reads Abschnitt auf Schritt verschieben (Move section to step) or Element auf Schritt verschieben (Move element to step). Alternatively, click Auf Schritt verschieben (Move to step) at the bottom of the settings panel on the right.
- Choose the target step from the list ("Schritt 2" or "Schritt 2 Name").
A section goes to the end of the target step. A field goes to the end of the target step's last section.
The menu only appears once the form has two steps. It's available for fields and groups that sit directly in a section. Fields inside a group don't have it — they move together with their group.
In the Aufbau
In the Aufbau tree, you drag sections and fields to a new position:
- Drag a section under another step.
- Drag a field or an entire group into another section, even in a different step.
- Empty sections show a dashed area. Drag the field there.
You can't drag fields into or out of a group.
Note: Rückgängig (Undo) reverts any move in one step. If the target step consists of only one empty section, a moved section replaces it. If you move the last section of a step, the step keeps one empty section.
Make a section repeatable
A repeatable section can be added multiple times while the form is filled out.
- Select the section in the form area.
- Turn on the Wiederholbar (Repeatable) switch in the Inhalt (content) tab.
For how conditions work in repeated sections, see Conditions in repeated sections.
