Set Up a GDT Device Praxis

Set up a lab device for GDT file exchange in Offisy Connect on the practice computer.

Requirements

  • The Offisy Connect add-on.
  • Offisy Connect is installed and connected to Offisy.
  • You know the directories your device reads job files from and writes result files to (from the device software's documentation).
  • You know your device's GDT identifiers.

How to do it

  1. Open the Geräte (Devices) page in Offisy Connect.

Fig. 1The device list, with the Freigegeben für column.
  2. Add a new device and choose the Connector-Art (Connector type).

  3. Give it a unique name under Name *.

  4. Fill in the configuration fields (see below).

  5. Use Freigegeben für (Shared with) to set which accounts may use the device.

Fig. 4The bottom of the form: one account is checked under Freigegeben für, followed by Speichern.
  6. Save the device.

  7. Open the row menu of the saved device and click Testen (Test) to check the configuration. While the check runs, the action shows Teste… (Testing…). The result appears right on the action — color-coded for success or failure, with details in the tooltip.

Configuration fields

FieldWhat to enter
Export-Verzeichnis (Auftragsdateien)The directory where Offisy Connect places job files for the device. It must match the directory your device reads jobs from — check the device software's documentation for the exact path.
Import-Verzeichnis (Ergebnisdateien)The directory where Offisy Connect looks for result files from the device. It must match the directory your device writes results to — check the device software's documentation for the exact path.
GDT-ID Gerät (8 Zeichen)Your device's GDT identifier. You'll find it in the device software's documentation or configuration.
GDT-ID EDV/Proxy (8 Zeichen)The GDT identifier Offisy Connect uses to identify itself to the device. In most cases you can keep the pre-filled value — check your device's default if you're unsure.
ZeichensatzThe character encoding Offisy Connect uses to read your device's result files: cp437, iso8859-1, iso8859-15, windows-1252, or utf8. Check the device software's documentation for the character set your device writes results in. The GDT settings in Offisy determine the character set of the job file.
Dateiname der AuftragsdateiThe file name Offisy Connect uses for the job file. The field comes pre-filled with EXPORT.GDT — leave it as is. If the job from Offisy carries its own file name, that name takes priority over this field.
Timeout (Minuten)How long Offisy Connect waits for a result before a job is marked as timed out.
Wiederholungsintervall bei Kollision (Sekunden)How long Offisy Connect waits before writing a job file again if a file with the same name already exists.
Verarbeitete Dateien archivieren (Debug)Whether Offisy Connect additionally archives processed files.

Note: Offisy Connect only processes result files of record type 6310. Job files of its own left in the same folder are ignored.

Devices belong to the installation, not to a single account. A job sent to a device that isn't shared with the sending account through Freigegeben für fails.

Common issues

  • Test reports an unreachable directory: Check the share and write permissions for the export and import directories.
  • The device delivers results, but nothing shows up in Offisy: The import directory is set incorrectly, or the result file isn't record type 6310.
  • Jobs don't arrive at the device: The device isn't shared with the sending account, or it isn't set as the Ziel für Laboranfragen (target for lab requests). See Settings for how to set the target.
