Calling Patients via the Waiting Room TV Praxis

You call patients directly from the appointment or patient context. The call appears immediately on all waiting room TVs linked to the selected room.

Benötigte Lizenz

This feature requires the Waiting Room TV add-on for Praxis.

Where do I find the patient call?

You'll find the call button in the appointment and patient context. By default it reads Call patient. If you've set a default room, the label changes to Call to room {room name}.

Next to the button there's a split dropdown that lets you select a room directly without changing your default room.

Prerequisites

  • The Waiting Room TV add-on is active.
  • You have the Wartezimmer-TV: Patient aufrufen permission.
  • At least one room is linked to a display. How to link rooms to displays is described in the Link rooms to the waiting room TV article.

Setting a default room

A default room determines which room you normally call patients to. This removes the need to select a room on every call.

  1. Click the Select default room dropdown in the header.
  2. Select a room from the list.
  3. To remove the default room, select No default room.

You can also set the default room directly when calling a patient (see below).

Calling a patient

  1. Open the appointment or the patient record.
  2. Click Call patient (or Call to room {room name} if a default room is set).
    • Use the split dropdown to select a different room without changing your default.
  3. In the Call {patient} modal, select the target room in the Room field.
  4. Optional: Enable the Remember as current room toggle to save this room as your new default.
  5. Click Call.

The patient now appears on all waiting room TVs linked to the selected room. The status message The patient has been called. confirms the call.

Note: After the call, the status can automatically change to "in treatment" once the appointment begins, or after a timeout. The exact trigger depends on the configuration.

Calling a patient to a cooperating practice

If your practice cooperates with another practice, you can also call patients to a room in that cooperating practice. The call then appears on the waiting room TVs of the cooperating practice, not on your own.

In the Room field, the selectable rooms are grouped by practice or company name. This makes it easy to see whether a room belongs to your own practice or to a cooperating one.

Prerequisites for this:

  • A cooperation exists between the two practices.
  • The room is shared with the cooperation (Share with cooperation option on the resource).
  • You have the Wartezimmer-TV: Patient aufrufen permission in the cooperating practice.

A display shows every active call for its linked rooms, regardless of which practice triggered the call. What matters is only which room the call is for.

Ending a call

Click End call to remove the call. The status message Call removed. confirms the action.

When the patient enters the treatment room, the status may also automatically change to The patient is in treatment.
