Manage Medications Praxis
Here you manage the master data for your medications. There are two sources: My Medications, which you create yourself, and Medications, which offisy provides as pre-configured lists.
Where do I find Medications?
Open Settings → Medications.
Prerequisites
- You are logged in as an administrator or with the appropriate permission.
- For the Medications tab: the module Global Medication Lists must be included in your license.
My Medications
Create a medication
- In the My Medications section, click Create Medication.
- In the Create Medication dialog, fill in the fields:
Basic data
- Name (required) — trade name of the medication, e.g. "Ascorbisal Tabl."
- Additional information — active ingredients and excipients, e.g. "Acetylsalicylic acid 0.5, Ascorbic acid 0.02"
- Category (required) — color-coded categorization
- PZN (Pharma number) — pharmaceutical central number of the medication
Prescription & health insurance
- Insurance code — e.g. IND, RE1, RE2 or F14
- Criteria for medicinal specialties
- Dispensing quantity
- Package note — e.g. "200 doses"
Quantity & form
- Quantity (required) — standard quantity, e.g. 1
- Unit (required) — ml, pcs, g, or mg
- Insurance retail price (required) — price in euros
- Dosage form — type of dosage form, e.g. tablet, drops, ointment
- Divisibility — whether and how the medication can be split
Authorization & prescription
- Long-term authorization — setting for long-term authorizations
- Controlled substance label — marking for controlled substances
- Prescribing note — e.g. "not for initial therapy"
- Prescription requirement — prescription status, e.g. "0 Non-prescription"
- Click Save.
Edit a medication
- Open the action menu for the medication and select Edit.
- Change the desired fields and click Save.
Delete a medication
- Open the action menu for the medication.
- Select Delete.
Note: You should not delete medications that have already been used. Changes to a medication are recorded in the Medication History.
Medications

This section is only available if the module Global Medication Lists is included in your license.
offisy provides pre-configured medication lists. These lists are read-only — you cannot edit them directly.
You can copy a medication into your own list via Create as My Medication (action menu) and then customize it.
Filters
The following filters are available above the table. They apply to both tabs (My Medications and Medications):
- Favorites — filters by favorite status: "No favorite", "For me", "For all users"
- Box — filters by box category: "Green Box", "Red Box", "Yellow Box", "No Box" (only visible when corresponding entries exist)
- Controlled substance — filters whether a controlled substance label is set: "Yes", "No" (only visible when controlled substance entries exist)
- Insurance code — filters by insurance code; options are generated dynamically from existing entries
Data table
The table shows all medications in the respective section. In My Medications you can export the table as a file via the download icon.

Row actions
- View — opens the full detail view of the medication with tabs for Quick help, Ingredients, Indication groups, and Labels (tabs appear only when data is available). The view shows badges for availability, prescription requirement, reimbursability, veterinary, and pharmacy, as well as manufacturer information.
- Edit — opens the edit dialog (for your own medications only)
- History — opens the Medication History with all change entries
- Delete — deletes the medication (for your own medications only)
Favorites
In the table you can set the favorite status for each medication via the star icon. Three options are available:
- No favorite — no star, medication not marked as favorite
- For me — star, medication is marked as a favorite for your user only
- For all users — person icon, medication is marked as a favorite for all users in the practice
Use the Favorites filter to restrict the table to these status values.
